Rene pursued his education with distinction, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and furthering his studies at the Ivey School of Business at Western University. He was predeceased by his parents, Laureat Fortier and Pauline Parent, as well as his sister Francine Fortier. Rene is survived by his brother Serge Fortier and sister Lucie Fortier and extended family and friends. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.

Rene's vibrant personality and generous spirit touched many. He was described as a force to be reckoned with—someone whose wit and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed.
