OBITUARY

Richard Alan Redeker

August 2, 1943 – June 21, 2026
Obituary of Richard Alan Redeker
IN THE CARE OF

Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center

Richard “Rich” Redeker, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 21, 2026 at the age of 82.

Rich lived a life defined by integrity, leadership, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. While his professional accomplishments were extraordinary, those who knew him best will remember him not for his titles, but for his kindness, wisdom, and willingness to give of himself whenever someone needed help.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 2, 1943, Rich was blessed by an anonymous donor to attend Penn Charter. He seized that blessing by working hard in school and athletics. He became a high school hall of fame athlete, and then went on to build a distinguished career in the financial services industry spanning more than five decades. He began his career with Wellington Management in 1968, working alongside legendary investor Jack Bogle, and went on to hold leadership positions at Kemper Financial Services, Prudential Securities, and Prudential Investments. Following his tenure as President and CEO of Prudential Investments, Rich served for more than twenty-five years as a director of the Prudential Mutual Funds and later PGIM Investments Funds, including six years as Chairman of the Board. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the investment industry and his steadfast advocacy for shareholders, he received the Mutual Fund Industry Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.

While he achieved significant professional success, Rich’s greatest source of pride was always his family. He was a devoted husband of more than 50 years to his beloved wife, Carol; a loving father to his two sons, Richard “Rick” Redeker, Jr (Brandy) and William “Bill” Redeker (Bridget) and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

Rich carried a lifelong commitment to giving back, never forgetting that the gift of his education had been made possible through the generosity of others . Throughout his life, he generously shared his time, experience, and resources with countless individuals and organizations. He served on numerous industry and community boards, mentored emerging professionals, volunteered at Jupiter Medical Center, and dedicated himself to helping at-risk and underserved children through organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and the West Jupiter Community Group. Whether mentoring a young professional, supporting a child in need, helping a friend navigate a challenge, or simply offering thoughtful advice, Rich never hesitated to lend a hand.

Those who worked alongside him often remarked that he was as invested in people’s personal growth as he was in their professional success. He was known for making time for others, offering guidance, and helping people succeed simply because he believed it was the right thing to do. His generosity touched far more lives than he ever realized.

Rich approached every endeavor with humility, honesty, respect for others, and an unmistakable wit that could turn an ordinary conversation into a cherished memory.

Outside of work and volunteer service, Rich enjoyed boating, golf, skiing, physical fitness, and spending time with family in Jupiter, Florida, and Stone Harbor, New Jersey. He treasured gatherings with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to create lasting memories with those he loved.

His legacy will live on not only through his many professional accomplishments, but through the countless people he encouraged, supported, and inspired throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his alma mater he holds near and dear, Penn Charter in Rich’s memory (class of '61), continuing the spirit of giving that defined his life.
