Richard James Samson, age 80, of Hollywood, Florida passed away on April 19, 2016 in Jupiter, Florida. Richard is survived by his children: Linda S. Hilwig; Michael E. Gilroy; Brian L. Gilroy; Dawn R. Borden (Tex); Julie A. Stewart (David); Richard J. Samson (Holly); seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, friends and members of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Gloria J. Samson.
Richard was an active member of the US Army for many years, and retired from the United States Coast Guard after 38 years of service. He served as an Executive Officer of the Board of Moose Lodge #2157. Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He and Gloria enjoyed traveling and weekend outings, especially with friends of the Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moose Lodge #2157 of Pompano Beach. Visitation and Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 4-6pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center.
