Born in Auburn, New York to the late Irene (Bellora) and Frank Palmeri, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married Anneliese, and together they shared 62 years of love and partnership. A proud Army veteran, Robert enlisted at the age of 17 during the Vietnam era, served his time, and returned to civilian life. He later re-enlisted in 1972, serving with the “Big Red 1” at Fort Riley, Kansas, then received his papers to return to Germany in 1975. The family remained there until 1981, returned to Germany again in 1982, and came back to the United States in 1984.
Robert is survived by his wife Anneliese, his children Angela and Robert. He also leaves behind grandchildren Sara, Steffanie, Christina (Shane), Paul (Sheena), and Eric (Mattie), along with great-grandchildren Jace, Bella, Trystan, Athena, Liam, Eli, Korbyn, Lynken, Warryn, Ember, Lyla, Beckett, Cade, Sadie, J.J., and Heidi. He is also remembered with love by many nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Irene and Frank Palmeri, and his children Heidi and Eric.
Robert was known as a fierce protector, and a gentle man who genuinely cared for others. Someone who would go out of his way to help others, especially his wife. He loved the joy of his growing family and cherished every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite times often involved hunting and swimming, and having the grandkids came over, always heading straight to the pool. Whether cooking at home or on the grill, he brought warmth, comfort, and care to the people around him. In addition to his love for family and country, Robert was also skilled and passionate about woodworking. He was a carpenter at NAS JAX before retiring, and he always kept his woodworking tools close, constantly making things such as cabinets, toys, and more, sharing that same steady craftsmanship with the people he loved.
