

After graduating high school, Russ served in the US Army for 8 years as a radio operator in Germany and enjoyed playing shortstop for the US Army baseball team. Russ met the love of his life, Hilde, in Germany and they wed upon their return to the US in 1956.
After leaving the service, Russ was employed by Pratt and Whitney. He worked in Middletown and then East Hartford, CT in instrumentation and as a tech writer/foreman for over 30 years. While in CT, Russ enjoyed bowling, coaching Little League baseball, woodworking and building projects and spent many hours salt water fishing with his son and grandchildren.
Upon retiring in 1985, Russ and Hilde moved to Tequesta, FL where they enjoyed tennis, golf, visits from their children and grandchildren, and warm Florida weather.
Russ is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hilde; son, Russell Jr. (Janice) of Holyoke, MA and William (Amy) of Ashford, CT and three grandchildren, Karen Fay (Shaun), Ryan Proulx (Cortney), and Nicole Proulx (Julie).
At his request, services will be private.
