Ruth grew up in East Islip, NY, graduating from East Islip High School in 1950. She attended the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Manhattan, New York and worked in the legal and banking sectors. She was married in 1953 and had three sons: Kenneth (deceased 2010), Andrew, and Eric. A second marriage in 1968 brought the birth of a fourth son, Brett.
Ruth moved with her sons to Tequesta, Florida in 1977. In addition to caring for her family she worked as a real estate agent with Merrill Lynch and as a Secretary of the International Women's Fishing Association (IWFA). As an active member of the IWFA, Ruth fished competitively in Florida, New York, and Canada, winning several awards for largemouth bass and trout.
Along with her love of fishing, Ruth loved the beach. She was a gourmet cook and had a passion for the creative arts. She enjoyed crafting and was an avid quilter, weaver, sculptor, and painter. Ruth was also an animal lover and had many beloved pets throughout her life. Born and raised on Long Island she never lost her love of the seafood and farm stands, but the Florida sunshine kept her warm.
Ruth is survived by her three sons, Andrew, Eric, and Brett; her grandsons, Kenneth Jr, Daniel, and Shane; her granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jessica and her great grandsons, Bennett and Elliott.
