She is survived by her children Kay (Brent) Hart of Lake Ann, MI, Anthony “Tony” (Laurie Purvis) J. Hammer, III of Jupiter, FL and Sherri (Mark) Gallagher of Indiantown, FL; grandchildren Jessica (Daryl) Billy, Anthony (Tausha) J. Hammer IV, Eric Chestnut, Casey (Michelle) Chestnut Marcus, Kyle Chestnut and Derek Hart; six great grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” J. Hammer, Jr., her parents and a brother.
She was born March 11, 1938 in Green Springs, OH where she grew up and met the love of her life, Tony. They were married on October 1, 1960 and very recently happily celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They were fortunate enough to retire at a young age, which allowed them to travel with family and to visit family and friends.
She graduated from Green Springs High School, then began working for the school system from which she graduated. She worked at the school until they moved out of state for her husband’s job. After raising their three children, she went to work as a secretary for the Richmond Community School System until her retirement. After retiring she spent her time caring for her great grandchildren, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
