Salvatore Michael Scimeca, 83, of Jupiter, Florida passed away on July 13, 2026 at Jupiter Medical Center. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael Scimeca and Dorothy Tedeschi Scimeca. He graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Union City, New Jersey where he played varsity baseball. A lifelong athlete, he enjoyed jogging, biking, swimming, and golfing.
He went into the family bicycle business and opened his own store Michael’s Bicycle Company in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1970. For decades, his bikes brought joy to children who received a bike under the Christmas tree. He retired in 2001.
Mike’s charisma and zest for life was undeniable, often reacting with “beyond sensational!” to things he enjoyed. A commanding presence, he loved to joke and laugh, and most of all, he loved to eat. When spending time with him, you were assured a good meal and a glass of wine. He had his own “rat pack” of buddies with whom he ate lunch every day.
His passions were playing golf and singing. His high school yearbook noted he was “always singing.” His love of Frank Sinatra and big band music persisted throughout his life. In recent years he enjoyed singing karaoke and became known for his impeccable renditions of Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra hits. He derived such pleasure from performing that he booked a studio and recorded a CD of his favorite numbers.
For over sixty years, he played golf and had many holes-in-one. He was a member of Bamm Hollow Country Club, Glenwood Country Club, and Beacon Hill Country Club in New Jersey and Eastpointe and Jonathan’s Landing in Florida.
He is survived by his daughters Jane Scimeca and Susan St. Germaine, and three grandchildren Margaret, Catherine, and Edward.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
