Stella was born on February 1, 1942, in New York City to Dr. John Albion Saxton, Jr. and Stella Switzer Saxton. A longtime resident of St. Louis, Missouri, she graduated from Mary Institute in St. Louis in 1959 and continued her studies at the University of Colorado and Washington University.
Inspired by her father's medical background as a pathologist, Stella became a licensed practical nurse and was employed in various capacities helping others, including working as a hospital emergency room nurse, private care nurse, hospice volunteer, and Red Cross volunteer. She supported the Red Cross on-site during several emergencies, including the aftermath of 9/11 in New York City. She was also involved in numerous church activities.
Stella was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Edwin (Ted) Guy, Jr. She and Ted were avid boaters and at one time owned the Grand Lagoon Marina in Panama City, Florida, as well as the charter fishing boat "Wrangler." They took frequent excursions aboard their pleasure boat "Pathfinder," including a trip from Florida to Canada. Among her hobbies, Stella enjoyed nature and animals, especially birds and her cat, Chessie.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Guy Johnson (Ben) of Madison, Alabama; and sons William Edwin Guy, III of Naperville, Illinois, and John Bemis Guy (Michelle) of Jupiter, Florida. Survivors also include eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be private, with burial at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.aycockfuneralhomejupiter.com for the Guy family.
