

Mr. Karlik served in the U. S. Army Signal Corp in Ft. Monmouth, N.J. While at the Bell Labs in Murray Hill, N.J., he discovered the tantalum capacitor. After earning his
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, he worked for many companies where he was considered a pioneer in the electronic field.
His career included corporate president of Philips Electronics, president of Mepco/Electra, Inc. and president of N.C.I. in West Palm Beach. Prior to that he was executive vice-president of Dickson Electronics of Scottsdale, AZ. He was also employed by T.R.W. in California and Aerovox in Massachusetts.
He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church of Palm Beach Gardens and an avid golfer. Steve also was a member of the Republican National Committee of the Northern Palm Beaches. He was born on December 7, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Stephan Karlik and Elizabeth Malek. In addition, to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Carroll, Johnny, Jerry and Emil, and a grandson, Hugo John Karlik.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven and a half years, Doris Sohan Karlik, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, daughters Diane Karlik (Frank) Lynch, Jupiter, FL, Kathy (Bob) Robert, McKinney, TX, son, Steven John (Ana) Karlik, Honduras, grandchildren Mathew, Kimberly, Timothy, and Daniel Lynch, Christopher, Nicholas, and Ashley Robert, and Steven Andrew Karlik, and sister Eleanor (Tom) Mirandi, Freehold, NJ.
Visitation with the family will begin on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, Jupiter, FL. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Nativity Lutheran Church, 4075 Holly Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410.
