This is the Church of St. George, taken on the day of the memorial Mass for our Dear Sue on 9 April, in the Octave of Easter Sunday and the Sunday of the Divine Mercy (Dominica II Paschae seu de divina misericordia).  May her Soul and all the Souls of the faithful departed Rest in Peace.

Our Elizabeth (Biz) posted this photo of Sue to her Facebook page. She had been very hard to reach last week, traveling back and forth from Seattle, Washington to Puerto Rico for an academic conference of some sort.  

She explained that this photo usually "lives" on her desk, though, and it was so wonderful to see it. 

Unfortunately, it has now begun to fade and to speckle through the years, but the memories certainly will never fade. 

Our Aunt Sue was touched by magic, in a way.

Josh's Aunt Maggie - who is also precious - remarked about the warmth of Sue's smile, and I can still see that smile, and her easy-going and very charming laugh, 

My own Mother would have been 100 years old today, and she and Sue were especially close -- although perhaps no one cherished our Aunt Sue and our Uncle Joe as Laurie did, because they spent so much time together, and Laurie so kindly cared endlessly for Suem traveling many miles several times a week, for so many years. Thank you, Laurie!  xo

Babe has suffered the great sorrow for so many years now of Sue's failing to recognize who she is. No one can imagine what kind of a crushing blow, day after day for so many years, is like, but Babe is steadfast and bore up to that experience time and time again. Thank you, Babe!  xo

Sue was Josh's Godmother, and he also cherished her greatly, as did Susan and Biz and Sean (although he may not remember) and frankly, as just about anyone who had known her!

It's a comfort to know that both my Mother and Sue, and our Uncle Joe and Aunt Agnes, and our Uncle Georgie (Father George), and Nana and Poppy and Laurie and Ron's son Rick are now all reunited -- and we are united with them, also, through our prayers.

Thank you, Sue, for being so kind, always, to my children and to me.  xo

In Remembrance of our Aunt Sue


Laurene has just called 
to say that Dear Aunt Sue 
(who is a saint) 
is very, very ill this evening.  

It came on suddenly 
within the last day or so, 
but she is 96 years of age 
and from what Laurie says, 
her body has just shut down.

Please remember her 
in your thoughts and prayers, 
as an enormously kind person 
who never missed Mass, 
said her novenas, 
made layettes for newborn orphans 
for the Christ Child Society, 
was happily married for 47 years, 
never had anything bad to say about anybody, 

and always had a joyful disposition.

I wish I could have spent more time with her, 
and as I got a bit older 
I realized that was a lost opportunity.

In an email message Josh sent,
He was saddened …
and also regretful 
of the time not invested 
in spending with her 
as well as with Nana, 
and with Loretta and Agnes.  

In an email message, Josh said

They are unequivocally the most collectively charming, 
Elegant, and positive set of sisters ever put together,
in the entire world.
 
In an email message, Josh said

We shall share those ever memorable words: 

"Joe......I'm finding you Joe!"

Our Dear Sue died 
around 8 pm this evening, 
just as we were approaching the Consecration 
at the Mass of Christian Burial 
for Father Hamlet, this evening, 
at the Church of the Incarnation.
God Rest her Soul.

Auntie Sue you are surely in God's hands now with your beloved Joe. I am very happy for you. I can feel the warmth of your smile radiating all the way from heaven. I will cherish all the wonderful memories,laughter and love we shared until we meet again.
