

Victor Herbert, of Wayne, NJ, passed into God's hands after a brief illness on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at age 86.
He was a loving father, grandfather (poppy) and great grandfather (big poppy). Vic was born on October 10, 1927 in Ulster County, New York to Irene Klinefelter and George Spatz. He would later move to Nutley, New Jersey where he would meet and marry his beloved bride Wilma Jean Pettigrew. Together they had one daughter and two sons.
Vic served with dignity in the United States Air Force as a mechanic and was stationed in various locations including, the Marshall Islands, Hawaii and New Mexico.
Vic could often be found at his beloved church, Preakness Reformed, where he was a member for over 50 years, most recently serving on the Helping Hands Committee. He took pride in health and fitness and loved to go on hikes and frequently visited the gym. Vic was an avid sports fan. He especially loved the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys.Vic also had a soft-spot for cats.
Vic was preceded in death by his loving wife Wilma Spatz and son-in-law Bill Beuckman.
He is survived by his daughter Laura Beuckman of Jupiter, FL; son Steven Spatz of Buxton, ME; son Marc Spatz (Christina) of West Warwick, RI; grandaughter Ali Reilly (James) of Lake Worth, FL; grandsons Christopher and Tim Spatz of West Warwick, RI; great grandson Jake Reilly of Lake Worth, FL; sister Janie James of Scottsdale, AZ; sister Flora Hansen of Johnson, NY; many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Preakness Reformed Church in Wayne, NJ on Saturday, October 11, 2014 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Preakness Reformed Church as requested by Vic.
