Vincent Sposa, of Hobe Sound, FL was 94 years old when he passed away peacefully with his wife Bette Sposa by his side. Vinny was born in Norwood, NJ to Jim and Josephine. He was the youngest sibling to Marie and Joe. Vinny graduated Tenafly High School, where he was captain of the football and baseball all-state teams. He was musically inclined; he played the saxophone, as well as the mandolin. Vinny attended Franklin and Marshall College and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He married his high school sweetheart and had two sons James and Jack Sposa.
He became a master plumber and studied plan reading and estimating at Columbia University. He later took over his father’s plumbing business and formed Tenafly Plumbing. Vinny had great success building and developing commercial real estate in Bergen County, New Jersey. He also became a building inspector in Mahwah, NJ. Vinny was proud to be a volunteer fire fighter and served as a member of the Free Masons for 69 years, where he attained the status of Master Mason.
When Vinny moved to Highland Beach, FL, his friends set him up on a blind date. The blind date was none other than Bette Jane. Bette was the love of his life who finally tamed the ultimate bachelor, and he wasted no time by marrying her that very same year. He became a stepdad to Lizanne and Scott.
Together, Vinny and Bette had four children and over the years the family grew with grand children and great grand children who all visited every chance that they get. Vinny Sposa was a family man who welcomed everyone into his home.
Vinny loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. You could always find the well-dressed couple on the dance floor with all eyes on them. You could also hear the laughter wafting through every room as he inevitably told a dirty joke. Vinny was a very generous man who loved his family above all else.
Vincent Sposa is survived by his wife Bette Sposa; his sons James Sposa (Debra), Jack Sposa (Kathy), Lizanne Tracy (John) and Scott Zurawaski (Karin); his grandchildren James Sposa IV, Jennifer Williams, Julie Leeb, Christen Sposa, John Tracy, Austin Tracy, Christopher Zurwaski, Ryan Zurwaski, Drake Lloyd, and Michael Lloyd; 10 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stephen who was by Vinny’s side for the past three and a half years as his personal care giver, along with Meritan and Chelsea who also provided help. And, we would be remised without mentioning his loyal companion Rocco Sposa.
