We are saddened to announce the passing of Wilfred Antonio Alfalla, "G-Pop" (nickname for Grand Pop) on May 26, 2024 in Jupiter FL. Tony was born on October 16,1954 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York to the proud parents of Wilfred Alfalla and Aida Luz Baez Alfalla.
In 1971, at the young age of 17 Tony joined the Marine Corp. He was stationed at the Marine Corps Base New River North Carolina. A few years later, on July 6th, 1974, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Arelis Mercedes Alfalla. Tony had a wonderful life and career. When Tony and Arelis decided to start a family, they were blessed with two loving children, Nicole Marie and Nicholas Antonio.
As a young boy Tony loved aviation and all things helicopters. In 1977 Tony began a lifelong career as an Aircraft Safety Investigator with Sikorsky Aircraft out of Iraq. Tony was an expert on aircraft safety and worked specifically with helicopters. His position with Sikorsky gave him and his family the opportunity to travel to places around the world such as Iran, Iraq, Colombia, Spain, Germany, Japan and the Philippines. He and his family created cherished memories of their travels. Upon retirement Tony and his family decided to settle down in beautiful Jupiter, Florida. Tony was blessed to become a grandfather to Cedric Antonio Delgado and Derrick Emmanuel.
Tony will be greatly missed by his wife, Arelis; father, Wilfred; mother-in-law, Juanita; brother-in-law, Manuel Paulino; sister, Luz Aida Alfalla Arias; brother, Christopher Anthony Alfalla; sister-in-law, Marci Allyse Alfalla; daughter, Nicole Vazguez; son-in-law, Miguel Angel Vazguez; son, Nicholas; niece, Andrea Andria Arias Martin; brother-in-law, Scott Thomas Martin; great nieces, Cadence Luz Martin Aida Jordyn Martin and several other family members too many to mention.
Other than his family and friends, some of the things he loved were, of course, helicopters (he had quite a collection of models), and cars, especially his Volkswagen. Tony was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage, loved his Puerto Rican food, “Café con Leche”, Thai food and enjoyed collecting pens. Tony was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, along with being known as "G-Pop" to all the kids on the Jupiter football team. He was a man of few words but loved to joke around. He had the biggest heart of any man you will ever know. Sadly, he had been sick for some time now and the loss of his grandson Cedric took its toll on him. God called His soldier Tony home.
"G-Pop," as he was known to many, would have wanted all to celebrate his life, and in place of sadness or tears, he would have wanted laughter and joy.
Tony’s family would love for family and friends to share his Celebration of Life. A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 1, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. Directly followed by the burial along Military Honors Ceremony at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Rd, Tequesta, FL 33469.
(Donations and/or flowers for wife, Arelis Mercedes Alfalla would be appreciated.)
