Andrew "Andy" Gross Oliveira, 83, of Hana, passed away on January 8, 2011, at his residence. He was born October 16, 1927 in Hana. Mr. Oliveira graduated from Hana High School in 1946. He volunteered in the United States regular army following graduation and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1948. He worked in Honolulu until 1951. When he returned to Hana, he was employed at Hasegawa's General Store until his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Armine (Randy) Medeiros; brothers, Joseph "Pinky" (Lani) Oliveira of Hana, Louis (Yaeko) Oliveira of Ewa Beach, Oahu; sister, Janet (David) Hill of California; 6 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services: Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hana, Mass 9 a.m., burial to follow at the Maui Veteran's Cemetery in Makawao.
