

Ann B. (Bauman) FrankLongtime Kailua-Kona resident Ann Frank, 98, passed away peacefully on March15, 2023.Ann was born September 18, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Florence and William Bauman and grew up in Southern California. Ann married Norman Frank in 1946 and they lived and worked in California. Ann and Norm retired to Kailua-Kona, in 1980 to enjoy the Hawaiian climate and way of life.Ann graduated from Whitaker College in 1948 with a journalism degree and joined The Los Angeles Times as a Reporter for 20 years. Ann was an early female pioneer in this industry and she loved to find human interest stories to write and share with her readership. She also worked in other non-traditional roles before becoming a reporter such as being a World War II “Rosie the Riveter.”Ann loved to play golf and to travel with cruising being her favorite pastime. She had many interesting stories and experiences to share as well as many friends who loved to come visit her. Ann was also active in her local chapters of AARP and The National Society for the Blind.Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, and her parents whom she cared for throughout their later years. Ann is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins as well her beloved cat, Valentine.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Honokohau Harbor Pavilion from 4-6 pm.
