Barbara Heymering

Barbara was born near Philadelphia on May 2, 1949. After having her fill of the small-town Aldan, Pa., scene, she moved to Meadville, Pa., and then to Vermont before settling in Lahaina in the mid-1980s. She found her place in the sun and said she’d never leave the island. She worked mostly in the hospitality business, where she had friends from all over the world. Except for a few trips back to see her family stateside, she lived and thrived on Maui.

Barbara was truly a free spirit. She did what she wanted to do, and didn't do what she didn't want to do. She was brilliant and won a National Merit Scholarship, but was not impressed by academia. She loved living in Lahaina with all the intrepid souls who gathered there.

Mainly, she loved to laugh. Her laughter and wit will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara was the oldest of the five Piersol children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude Joan Bradley and father, William Joseph Piersol, and her youngest sister, Cathy. She is survived by her sisters, Patty and Peggy, and brother, Bill.
