Our beloved Dr. Charles Sutton Stewart passed on 3/09/2023 due to long standing health complications. Dr. Stewart was an incredibly treasured member of several communities: Beit Mishpocha (Washington, D.C.); Chabbad (Kona), Reform (Pahoa), the ManKind Project; advocate for Gay / Human Rights, polyglot groups (he spoke and / or studied at least 20 languages and more. He will always be remembered as a caring ‘mentch’ and is to be buried alongside his husband, Jack Hillelsohn, near the Washington synagogue. He was a veterinarian for many years, retiring to Hawaii less than a decade ago, where he embraced and was embraced by many Ohanas (communities) here. He is survived by these Ohanas who consider him family forever.
