David Francis Meyer, 97, formerly of Laupahoehoe, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Pohai Malama Hospice of Hilo. He was born in Waipunalei and was retired as a truck driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation and was Pvt. 1st Class 1st Regiment, Hawaii Rifles. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Visitation at 8:00 am, Mass at 10:00 am, burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park and Cemetery at 11:00 am (ILIMA) section. Casual Attire. He is survived by his spouse Lucy (Ynigues) Meyer of Hilo; son Lionel (Carol) Meyer of Hilo; daughters Elvira (Meyer) Publico of Hilo, Karen (Darrell Howard) Meyer of Pepeekeo; brother Herman (Hideko) Meyer of Wahiawa; sisters Agnes Carvalho of Hilo, Dorothy Lanza of Honolulu, Annie Lum of Honolulu, Mary Ann Meyer of Honolulu; aunt Elsie (Meyer) Stevens of Waipunalei. 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 hanai grandsons. numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
