
Dolores Hudcovic passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours at her home in Kihei, Maui. She was 76 years old. She was known by friends and family as Dolly and also Dee. Mrs. Hudcovic was born on July 31, 1935 in Wailuku, Maui. As a child, her father and siblings moved to Waipahu on Oahu where she attended elementary and secondary schools there. She graduated from Waipahu High School and earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Hawaii. Shortly after her graduation from college, she met her husband, Alfred Hudcovic; aka Al Covic, and they were married on Oahu. During that time, she worked at the Straub Medical Center while her husband was on Maui managing the Hicks Homes Maui County Branch. She later moved to Maui to join him and also began raising her family. She was career oriented and was co-owner of Covic Reality and Covic Construction Company where she worked alongside with her husband for many years. She eventually retired 10 years ago. Mrs. Hudcovic is preceded in death by her son Edward, her father; Ferderico Garcia, her hanai mother; Felicidad Garcia, hanai brother; Jerry Garcia, and hanai sister; Jeannie Miyashiro. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Hudcovic ("Al Covic"); two sons, Michael (Lori Ann Kovacic) and Alan Hudcovic, three daughters, Valerie Hudcovic, Lori Miller, and Andrea (John) Comstock; a brother, Roger Garcia, a sister; Loretta Garcia and hanai siblings; Girlie (Gene) Mago, Lee (Leone) Kamahele; Dong Garcia; and Raymond Garcia. She had nine grandchildren; Taylor Hudcovic, Justin Hudcovic, Gabriel Strait, Keali'i Hudcovic-Dumaran, Kawehilani Dumaran, Diamond Kovacic, Destiny Kovacic, Edward Hudcovic, Dalton Jardine, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hudcovic was a devoted housewife and beloved mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Visitation: Visitation will begin at 10 am with mass at 11 am. on Friday, April 15, 2011at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Kihei. A second memorial service will also be held on Oahu at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Kaneohe on April 30, 2011. Final inurnment will be held privately at Makawao Veterans' Cemetery.
Services: Mrs. Hudcovic will be remembered in a Mass of Prayer on Friday, April 15, 2011 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Kihei.
Interment: Family and friends are also invited for the scattering of her ashes on the following day, Saturday April 16th, at the beach in front of the family's residence; 1444 Halama Street. Light refreshments will be served in Hawaiian tradition on the beach.
