Gene owned and operated Hoover Plastering. He was a member of Valley Isle Kennel Club and was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Grace Bible Church in Kahului, Memorial services will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Gene is survived by his wife, Julie Mijo Hoover; sons, David (Kate) Hoover of Montana, James Kenui of Wailuku; hanai-sons, Moki (Deseree) Kahiamoe of Haiku, and Daniel (Rosie) Kahiamoe of Wailuku; grandchildren, Lisa (Frankie) Dean, Christy Brown of Arizona, Jacob Kenui, and Kalena Kenui both of Wailuku; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alivia Brown of Arizona.
