

Glenn Nanod, 70 years, was born on Molokai in 1954, and died peacefully, on September, 26, 2025 in Wailuku with his daughter, Rachel by his side. His death was a surprise to anyone who knew him. He was on his way to Lahaina to support the residents that were impacted by the fires. He was a private person and yet he valued education, service to the community, a concern for community issues, and a love for his daughter and family.
EDUCATION: After attending Lahainaluna High School (3 years) and graduating from Molokai High and Intermediate School in 1972, Glenn continued his education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Cannon’s Business College and Maui Community College . MCC: He was initiated into Phi Theta Kappa – National Honor Fraternity. University of Hawaii: Studied archeology - done research and site inspections other islands. He also testified on community issues that was dear to him and the community.
EMPLOYMENT: Employer’s Options hired Glenn after he tirelessly volunteered and travelled by bus to Lahaina to support and feed the resident’s impacted by the Lahaina fires until his passing. Glenn relocated to Maui in 1984, to attend MCC and then worked at Ah Fook’s Supermarket. This was a job he really enjoyed and found satisfaction especially because he loved working and servicing the people in the community. It was a very sad day when the store was destroyed by fire in 2005 – he continued working at Ah Fook’s Supermarket until it was sold.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: In 2025, The County of Maui recognized him as a “Volunteer Hero.” The Common Ground Collective, nominated Glenn for his compassionate and caring service to pack and distribute food boxes for the fire impacted residents. Glenn also volunteered as an M.I.L. Track and Field official for high school student athletes prior.
FAMILY: Glenn is survived by his daughter, Rachel and Dylan Kruse, and their children Logan, Emerson and Shealynn, and their grandmother, Donna Jean Goheen. Glenn’s Brothers: David [Shirley] and Lance Nanod. Sisters: Valerie Gonzalez and Madeline [William] Brown. He is predeceased by his parents: Filemon (“David”) and Carnation Nanod.
CHURCH SERVICE: Saint Damien Church (Molokai) on February 7, 2026, in the morning. Times to be determined.
