

HARRY LOYD KAHUNANUI, SR., 92, of Kula, Maui, flew with the angels on February 7, 2026. Born on July 23, 1933, Harry grew up in Makawao where he worked for Haleakala Dairy and thereafter the State of Hawaii. He retired from the National Guard having served 29 years.
Harry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Caroline (Miguel), his children Harry Kahunanui, Jr. and Karen (Scott) Watanabe, as well as grandchildren Kaitlyn (Si'ufaga) Kava, Brandyn Watanabe and great-grandson Bradlee Watanabe. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews.
One of five children of the late John Kahua Kahunanui and the late Elizabeth "Girlie" Iwata Kahunanui, he was the last having been pre-deceased by siblings Sister Lucia Iwata, SS.CC., John "Poi" Kahunanui, Mildred Purdy and Steven "Boy" Kahunanui.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Ballard's Family Mortuary with visitation to begin at 9:00 a.m. and prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Military burial to follow at Makawao Veterans Cemetery.
