

Jodi Akie Arisumi, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on the morning of November 18, 2025, after a long and hard fought battle with breast cancer. She left this world surrounded by the love of her family.
Jodi’s family has been rooted in the Maui community for many generations, she was the fourth generation. Born on February 29, 1980, in Wailuku, Hawai‘i, Jodi was the cherished daughter of Alan and Ann Arakawa. On March 3, 2012, she married her best friend, Reed Arisumi. They built a beautiful life together and welcomed their daughter, Brodi, on March 26, 2021. Brodi was the light of Jodi’s life.
A proud graduate of Baldwin High School’s Class of 1998, Jodi went on to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hawai‘i, Mānoa. Returning home to Maui, she began a meaningful career in human resources with Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Vantaggio HR, and Maui Oil Company. Her dedication to community service and leadership prompted Jodi to serve on the board of Maui Federal Credit Union and was she was a graduate of the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellowship program.
Jodi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Irma Otome Arakawa and Masaki and Suzuko Matsui. She is survived by her devoted husband, Reed Arisumi; her daughter, Brodi Arisumi; her parents, Alan and Ann Arakawa; her sister, Jan Arakawa; her father- and mother-in-law, Guy and Charlotte Arisumi; and her brothers-in-law, Wade Arisumi and Bryan Arisumi; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Jodi will be remembered for her unyielding devotion to serve and help others. When she decided something was to be done, she did it, never complaining or letting an obstacle stand in the way. Her thoughtfulness for everyone she encountered was awe-inspiring and the love for her family was evident in all she did. Her warmth and smile will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held on December 5, 2025, at Ballard Family Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by the service at 6:00 PM. The family kindly requests no koden and no flowers. In her memory, please donate to your favorite local non-profit.
