John Vincent Kelty, 84, of Kailua Kona, died March 18, 2016. He was born August 19, 1931 in Woodmere, New York. John, a Marine Corps Veteran, grew up building several stock cars and racing all along the East Coast. He became a manager and owner of several car dealerships in Long Island, New York, then retired to Hawaii where he worked at Kmart for the past seventeen years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Josephine C. Kelty of Kailua Kona; daughter, Joanne E. Kelty-Sorrentino of Margate, Florida; brother, Frank (Margaret) Kelty of Schoharie, New York; sister, Dorothy (Rick) Simon of Schoharie, New York; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends are welcome 12 noon, Friday, May 20, 2016 for Military Honors at West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery.
