John Michael McMullen, 47, of Kihei, Maui, and formerly of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully while under hospice care in Maui, HI. He battled colon cancer for 2 1/2 years. Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of Lenus and Mary Ann McMullen. He is survived by three brothers, Paul, Christopher, and Daniel, and two sisters, Brenda and Therese.
John served over 5 years in the US Coast Guard. His last duty station was in Kodiak, Alaska, where he was a crew member on a C130 Hercules that did search and rescue over the Aleutian Islands.
He loved life in Maui and had lived and worked there for 8 years. He will be missed by his parents, siblings and their spouses, loving cousins, and his many friends in Maui. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maui Hospice, 400 Mahalani St, Wailuku, Maui, 96793. Designate that the contribution is given in the name of John McMullen.
John, may your life in the eternal paradise be kind and gentle. We wish you swaying palm trees, turquoise seas, and gentle breezes in your Hawaiian Heaven.
A scattering of ashes will be held at the discretion of his family.
