

Curt Zukosky passed away at his home in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. He was born on June 20, 1957 to John and Grayce Zukosky in East St. Louis, Illinois. Curt was a graduate of Collinsville High School and the University of Illinois. After graduating college, Curt moved west to work the ski season in Winter Park, Colorado. He decided to stay in Colorado moving to Boulder and working at the original Mike’s Camera on the Pearl Street Mall. He also worked at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder as a photographer and achieved unique views of his subjects with his personal photography. After moving to Hawaii approximately 20 years ago, Curt retired from Costco.Five minutes with Curt and you knew he was intelligent. He was well read and appreciated movies and series that offered insights and different perspectives. His searing wit and sense of humor kept his family and friends amused in conversations, cards and videos. It was difficult to compete with his sarcasm and irony. He also kept well informed regarding politics and was deeply concerned for our country. He felt strongly about many issues, particularly the injustices in the world.Curt will be missed by his loving parents and his sister, Linda Pope (Jon). He was the fun uncle to his nephew Nathan Pope (Emily) and niece Ellie Pope. Linda and Jon remain grateful to Curt for introducing them and for the times they spent together creating fun videos scripted with Curt’s witty humor and direction. He will also be lovingly missed by his dear cousin Kathy Fox (Dan) and other family and good friends along his journey. Curt was devoted to many furry friends over the years and every cat should be so lucky as to have a human like Curt.The family would like to extend thanks to Dakin and Lisa for their help and support in Hawaii during this difficult time.Curt loved to give nicknames to his friends and family so rest in peace, dear Curt, from Uncle Dad, Mr. Mom, Scooter, Brenda, Monkey Boy and Dottie. You are loved and will be remembered forever.Contributions can be made in Curt’s name to the Aloha Animal Oasis (hawaiiaao.org). A family service will celebrate Curt’s life in the upcoming months.
