
Joseph P. Rodrigues Sr., 84 of Wailuku, died January 5, 2015 at his residence under hospice care surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on January 20, 2015 at St. Anthony Church, with services beginning at 9:00 a.m., mass at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Makawao Veteran’s Cemetery.
He was born on June 10, 1930 to the late Vincent and Lucille Rodrigues of Lahaina.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife Janet M. Rodrigues (DeRego) and had five sons; Robert, Gerald (Colette), Michael, Joseph P. II, Frank (Kim). He had nine grandchildren; Kevin, Anstin, Lokana, Ryan, Kely, Jenna, Kimo, Travis, and Bre. He also had eight great grandchildren; Colton, Lili, Huntley, Makana, Kamaile, Connor, Saddie and Ha’lia.
He also leaves behind five sisters’; Agnes Silva, Lani, Betty Chang, Alma and Sandra Gomes.
Joseph retired as a Korean and Vietnam Veteran. He was a SFC Sergeant in the U.S. Army where he was an Expert Rifle Shooter with the Army Rifle Team. He went to Camp Perry Ohio with the Army Rifle Team for 3 years to compete in the Military National Rifle matches. He worked for Hopaco as a Chemical and Janitorial Sales Consultant. Later he helped to opened Sanitary Service and Supply and then retired from Maui Chemical and Paper.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the support and care received from Islands Hospice and has many loving family members. He was old time Harley Davidson bike rider.
