

June Borges, 97, died late on the evening of September 17th after enjoying a full day of visits from family and friends and sharing of love and prayers. June was born in Paia on July 21st, 1928. She attended Paia School and graduated from Maui High in 1946. Growing up, June and her family were faithful parishioners of Holy Rosary Church. She is the second child of Alfred Pico Sr. and Fannie Souza Pico. She is preceded in death by parents, older sister Adeline and younger brother Alfred Jr. June is also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Deacon Joseph Borges and her son, Thomas Jon Borges. She is survived by her sister, Anita Boteilho and her 3 remaining children, Marianne Okamura, Anita Carrington, and Joseph Borges Jr.
After high school, June worked at Kress Store on main street in Wailuku until she married in 1952 and moved to South Bend Indiana with Joe as he finished his degree at Notre Dame University. They returned to Hawaii in 1959 and lived on Oahu until 1972 when they moved back to Maui. Since then, she been a parishioner at St. Anthony Church where her funeral service will be held on October 11th. Viewing begins at 8:30am and Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Burial will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 2pm at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku. A special Mahalo to Islands Hospice for their tender care.
