

Lester Byron Moniz was born on December 5, 1953. He went to his eternal reward at Maui Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2025.He is the son of the late Clarence "Butch" Moniz and Margaret Texeira Moniz.He was the paternal nephew of the late Eddie, Stan, Stephen, and John Moniz, Lu Moniz Coelho, Marie Moniz Sukol, and Rusty Moniz Biddix. He was a maternal nephew to the late Johnny Texeira, and Mary Texeira Torres.
He is survived by his three brothers: Wayne Moniz of Wailuku, Keith (Celia) Moniz of Kula, Marvin (Jocelyn) Moniz of Waikapu, and a sister, Larnette Moniz of Oklahoma City.Nieces: Megan Moniz of Wailuku and McKenzie (Deren) Koyanagi, and grand nephew Duke Koyanagi of Kula. Numerous cousins and, in particular, Paulette Torres Medeiros of Wailuku.
Lester is a graduate of Kaimuki High School. He served for 35 years maintaining the beauty of St. Anthony School and Parish.
Known as Uncle Lester by decades of students and parents. Lester assisted sports teams, school events and parish activities.
He was an avid collector of memorabilia, raised birds, and had a green thumb for a variety of trees and flowers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maui Memorial, Hale Makua Kahului, and St. Anthony Parish and School for their loving care.
A service honoring Lester's life will be held at St. Anthony Church, Wailuku Maui Hawaii, on February 14, 2025. Public viewing at 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., mass to follow. Aloha attire is requested.
