Born October 10, 1949, in Santa Ana, California. Mark was raised on his family’s farm where he attended La Quinta High School, graduating in 1967 and went on to attend Orange Coast College in California.
At age 18, he started working at Marie Calanders, in Huntington Beach, as a dishwasher and went on to own his own Marie Calanders in Kaneohe, HI and one in Lahaina at the Lahaina Cannery Mall, where he met Nancy Poffenbarger, his lifetime partner.
Mark was a kind and generous soul. He was very community oriented and even assisted the Boy Scouts of Maui with their fund raiser event, teaching the mothers how to make the famous Marie Calander’s glazed strawberry pies as a fund-raising event for Mother’s Day. Mark will be truly missed.
Leaving behind Nancy Poffenbarger and ohana, sister Norma Ichinaga, aunt Reiko Nagamatsu, cousin Ernie Nagamatsu and 2nd cousins Keith and Kevin Komatsu.
Mark is predeceased by his father and mother, Frank and Yasuko Nagamatsu and brother Glenn Nagamatsu.
Many thanks for the wonderful care and compassion from the staff at Hospice Maui and Maui Memorial Medical Center.
There will be a private memorial service, in May, to scatter his ashes.
