Marvin R. Funes

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku, Mass will begin at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park.

In his earlier working years, Marvin was employed by E.T. Ige Construction and Mark Construction as a General Superintendent. He then became the General Manager of Maui Concrete & Aggregates and later became Vice-President of the Company where he worked for 13 years. In 1984 Marvin started his own concrete company, M. Funes Concrete which was later purchased by Hawaiian Cement. In 1996, Marvin was hired as a Sales Manager by Ameron where he retired in 2005.

After retirement, Marvin opened his own trucking company, M. Funes Trucking which he operated until 2014.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Ethel Cambra Funes; sons, Alan Funes, and Guy (Cindi) Funes; step-son, Galen Carvalho; daughter, Stephanie (Jose) Madera Torres; brothers, John Funes, Manuel “Manny” (Yvonne) Funes Jr., Joseph “Joey” (Nit) Funes; sisters, Trinidad “Trini” (Warren) Auwae, Anita “Nina” (Harry) Coelho; 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his son, Stephen Funes, parents, Manuel Funes Sr. and Anna Garcia Funes; and brother, Antonio “Tony” Funes.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Park, and Dr. Loma Hassell & staff at Liberty Dialysis. They would also like to thank the emergency room doctors and staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
