

Marvin is survived by his wife, Lenora Shrewsbury, his daughter, Andrea Hanna and one great grandchild, Sadie, as well as step-children Wes Folkerth (Sue), Beth Folkerth, and Geoffrey Folkerth (Ania).
Marvin graduated from San Diego State University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology Cum Laude, and from the University of California Berkeley in 1953 with a Doctor of Philosophy in Anatomy.
Marvin retired as Professor Emeritus from San Jose State University where he taught Anatomy, Histology, Physical Anthropology, Natural History and Philosophy of Science. He also taught Clinical Anatomy of the Upper Extremity at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Marvin was always active in Research even in retirement on Maui. Most of it involved lymphatics, the hand and Anthropology. He published 33 Articles and wrote 7 Books most of which concerned science.
In 1978, Marvin was unanimously elected as an Associate Member of the American Society for Surgery of the hand. He was the second non-physician to be elected to this Society. Marvin’s life long passion was the enjoyment of learning! He always exercised for health. He had an ever present sense of humor and loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Marvin was a very loyal friend to many whose path in life crossed his.
Marvin led an eclectic life. While jogging he used Flashcards he made in more than one language to study words. He studied Philosophy for years and spoke beautifully on the subject. He tried all the recipes in one of Julia Child’s Cook Books. He made hiking in every county in California a goal he accomplished. He tried making perfume. He was an Artist.
