Masato “Masa†Tamura, 88, of Hilo, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2014 at his private residence. He was born in Kapoho and Retired as a Construction Laborer for S. K. Oda Construction. Memorial services will be held at Hilo Hongwanji, Saturday July 26, 2014. Visitation at 3:00 pm, service at 4:00 pm. He was preceded in death by his brother Susumu Tamura. He is survived by his spouse Tsuruyo Tamura of Hilo; sons Bob Tamura of Hilo, Thomas (Debby) Tamura of Maryland, Gerry (Sheila) Tamura of Hilo; sisters Hatsue Carvalho of Hilo, Carol Okiuye of Hilo, Shizue Sanekane of Hilo; brother-in-law Kinji Suzuki of Honolulu 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
