Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Ballard Family Mortuary, services will begin at 7 p.m., and cremation will follow.
Melissa attended Baldwin High School, and spent most of her life here on Maui.
She is survived by her mother, Deborah Mertens; step-father, Richard Mertens; father, Herbert Farmer Jr.; her 12 year old son, Elijah Mertens; 6 year old daughter, Natasha Alford; sisters, Amanda, and Kristi Farmer; brother, Joshua Farmer; companion, David Hirsch; nephews and nieces, aunt, and uncle.
Melissa, a beloved daughter, and loving mother, will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
