Micah Hoku Carvalho, 40, of Kapaau, Hawaii, was born in Petaluma, California.
He graduated from Stanford University, CA and Stanford Oxford, Magdalen College,
U.K. Upon graduating he interned for UNAIDS in Suva, Fiji. He was an intern for the
International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, San Francisco and a Research
and Policy Fellow at the Institute of National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, New York.
Micah worked as a Health Policy Advocate at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center. He was
also Policy and Communications Manager for the Asian Pacific Islanders for Human
Rights in Los Angeles.
He is survived by parents Joseph and Marcia Carvalho of Kapaau, brother Adrian
(Kristen) Carvalho of Mill Valley, California; one niece, one nephew, and numerous
aunties, uncles and cousins.
Private memorial services were held.
