Born on December 23, 1959, in Oakland, California, to Ethelbert “Bert” and Bernice Sniffen, Michael moved to Pukalani, Maui, where he built a life rooted in family, service, and the ocean he loved.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a dedicated truck driver for T. Sniffen & Sons, Michael lived a life of quiet strength, hard work, and deep aloha. Whether behind the wheel or casting a line into Hawaiian waters, he embraced every moment with purpose and a love for the simple joys of life.
Michael was happiest when fishing or combing the beach for puka shells — always going holoholo, always finding beauty in the world around him. His presence was steady and comforting, and his love for his family was unwavering.
He is survived by his daughters: Summer Galacgac, Chiree “Moki” Sniffen, and Chailin “Mapu” Sniffen; and his cherished grandchildren: Zoey Galacgac, Zola Galacgac, Caleb Sniffen-Lacio, Noah Sniffen-Lacio, Azyah Sniffen-Ceniza, and Royal Sniffen.
Michael's life will be honored at a funeral service on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Ballard Family Mortuary. Public Visitation starts at 5PM.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered — in the curl of a wave, the glint of a puka shell, and the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
