

Pita Junior Latu, aged 35, passed away on October 28, 2024, in his hometown, Lahaina, Hawaii. He was born on September 22, 1989, in Beverly Hills, California, to Lona Pahulu and Lomio Latu. Pita attended Lahainaluna High School then later transferred and graduated from Farrington High School in 2008. Pita served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 2011-2013. Pita was called to serve in the Savannah, Georgia mission. He was a faithful member of the Gospel and a lifelong member of the Lahaina 2nd Ward (Tongan). Pita had various callings throughout his life and last served as a Sunday School Teacher (English Speaking) for the Elder’s Quorum.
Pita married and was sealed for time and all eternity to his beautiful wife, Sofia Laukau Latu, on August 2, 2017 in the Laie Hawaii Temple. Pita and Sofia were blessed with their miracle (Leap Day) daughter, Malia Laukau Latu, who was born on February 29, 2024. Becoming a father to his Princess was his greatest joy. Pita was also a proud member of Kalapu Maui Fusi Fonua (originally Kalapu Palataisi) where he served as the President and Treasurer.
Pita is survived by his daughter, Malia Laukau Latu; Wife, Sofia Laukau Latu; Parents, Lomio Latu, Lona Pahulu, Moleni Sime, Tupou and Tangiloto Kisepi Pahulu; Siblings, Ana, Laulile, Alofa, Lisa, Fine, Nela, Seini and Teli Leka, their spouses and along with many nieces and nephews.
Family, friends, and others are invited toPita’s funeral service on Saturday, November 16, 2024, held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1300 Maui Lani Parkway, Kahului, Hawaii 96732, from 8am - 2pm. His burial to follow at 3pm at the Puehuehuiki Cemetery in Lahaina.
