R. Gilbert Basco, 80, of Kahului, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at his residence under the care of Hospice Maui. Gilbert was born on February 11, 1931 in Sprecklesville, Maui. He was a retired irrigation supervisor with the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company for 47 years. He also was an avid golfer throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Gloria June; daughter, Jackie (Chris) Brown; son, Rusty; and four grandchildren, Christian Brown, Cullen Brown, Buddah Koko, and Ikaika Basco.
Visitation: Family and friends are invited to gather for funeral services on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Borthwick Norman's Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Family requests aloha/ casual attire.
Services: Service at 11:30 a.m.
Interment: Burial will follow 1:30 p.m. at the Maui Veteran's Cemetery in Makawao.
