
Medeiros, Stanley Louis, Sr., 84 of Kahului passed away on January 10, 2015 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 7, 1931 in Paia. He attended Holy Rosary School, St. Anthony School and graduated from Maui High School.
His career included more than 40 years of military service in the Hawaii Army National Guard, active duty Army (Vietnam) and as an employee of the Department of Defense. He received numerous commendations for his achievements and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter and the Air Medal.
In his younger days he played the guitar and loved to entertain at luau and private gigs. In his retirement, he repaired lawn mowers and weedeaters and spent time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Manuel Viveiros Medeiros and Innocencia Souza Medeiros and his wife of more than 50 years, Lorraine Paiva Medeiros.
He is survived by: sons, Stanley Jr. (Marianne Bariquit) and Kenneth (Judy); daughter, Vanessa A. Medeiros. Grandchildren: Ashley (Blaise) Haleakala, Alex Medeiros, Michelle Medeiros and Nichole Medeiros. Two great-grandchildren.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Ballard Family Mortuary from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Holy Rosary Church in Paia (Baldwin Avenue) from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.; mass to begin at 11:00 a.m.; burial to follow at Makawao Veteran’s Cemetery.
