As we mourn the passing of Travis, we remember his selflessness and warm presence that always made us feel loved. His infectious laughter as a child still echoes in the cherished family home in Kahaluu. In every shared familial memory with the Nakoa's, Hookano's, Ryder's, Young's, Anzai's and Awa's, his kind heart shone through. As Travis took care of everyone around him so tenderly, it filled our hearts with joy to see him find blessings with his beautiful wife, children and family on the Big Island. Even in sorrow we find solace thanking God for these precious memories.

Living in kahaluu"lihikai dr" 20-30 + years ago we had the chance to know real ohana and community.  We were and always will be ohana. From Mel, Rachel, Kate, Emily and Zach. We all will forever remember your love, laugh, and wonderful smile. ♥️ A thousand memories and moments to cherish.  Thank you Trav for being YOU! Never forgotten.

 I miss you ! I have a million zillion katrillion memories to share but I just wanted to say How much I Love you!! How much you mean  to me & how much I appreciated you!! I want the world to know how loving & giving you’ve always been ! Not  just to me, but to everyone!!! I want to say thank you !! Thank you for every ounce of love you’ve poured into my life! My heart &. My soul!!! Thank you for the unconditional love ! The unsolicited advice  lol just kidding 🥰 the constant encouragement & care !!! I struggle everyday now , missing a big part of me! My coffee partner, my singing , dancing, laughing, identical emotional support system who understands every ounce of my borderline personality joking partner!! I love you forever baby brother Travis Nakoa

Travis was always positive and helpful. He played sports with my son Hanalei who will be 46 in August. I think he is Junior’s age. I remember him as always checking on me to make sure I was ok. At parties he always spent time with me and I really loved him. He laughed a lot and always had a big smile. We sat with him at Tyson’s service and I wish I knew he was struggling. Travis the Ahn family all love you and will always miss you! I have a special place in my heart for you!♥️💔♥️

Braddah Travis was one who loved all and who was loved by all, and we are grieved and shall miss him dearly; but take heart as there is “good news of God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24)

Braddah Travis was generous with his time and talents, he’d give the shirt off his back and bebedes too. 

He’d probably exclaim laughing,

“Just no mind the stains, eh!”

Yup, a hard worker alway jovial and smiling; but deep down inside he was also hurting and yearning for peace, as innate and self inflicted sins, and dark forces played havoc upon his soul.

Indeed, such forces tries hard to blind the eyes of people by distracting them, lying to them, tempting them, accusing them, tormenting them and no one is exempt from such.

He tried taking his family to church and Bible study, but something was lacking as he so desperately tried to find it in such efforts; even calling me for discipleship.

He told me, “…as of right now I’m just trying to get back to the lord it’s not easy for me but I’m trying…”

It is written:

“God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.” (Acts 17:27)

But, what most people don’t understand is that true freedom and peace comes only with fully surrendering 100% to the Lordship of Yeshua (Jesus), by letting him totally into one’s live.

For he said,

“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I AM! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:19-20)

“Then Jesus declared, “I AM the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)

It’s not only about “believing” in him, for “even the demons believe that—and shudder” (James 2:9); it’s also about sincere repentance, obedience and faith.

I’m reminded from the Scriptures:

“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 
After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” (Matthew 14:22-32)

He’s more than that, he IS God in his triune nature.

For,

“In the beginning was the Word [Yeshua], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:1 & 14)

Why did he do that?

Well, it all goes back to the defiant angels in Heaven and the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, and thus a curse was put upon humanity; but there is hope.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

And so, he came as God incarnate to die in our place on the cross at Calvary, that’s how much he loves us.

“No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them - the ransom for a life is costly-“ (Psalm 49:7-8)

And Yeshua said,

“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” (John 10:17-18)

Only Yeshua did that for you and I; no one else did that dead or alive, real or imagined, no religion or ideology, no church or denomination, no amount of works or offerings - only Yeshua did that and only he can save us.

For the apostle Peter said,

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Now hear this good people, for Yeshua also said:

“For just as the Father [God] raises the dead and gives them life; even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.” (John 5:21)

It’s also written:

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” (Romans 9:15-16)

Where Travis is in these equations only God knows.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I AM the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

He also said,

“I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

(Hopefully some will say “Yes”)

Then fully surrender to God in complete faith and step out of the boat into “the light of life,” and you shall have a peace beyond all understanding; no matter what the storms of life brings and there shall be many in these last days as we draw nearer to his return.

And the Lord said,

“I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.” (John 5:25)

“Come,” he said.” (Matthew 14:29)

In the name and love of Yeshua, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28), may he have mercy on us all. 

For,

“Mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:13)

Amen.

Truly one of a kind original Hawaiian always showed Aloha to all.  Even though blunt and obnoxious you always kept it real and definitely always addressed the elephant in the room.  That’s one thing we all loved about you never scared to say how you feel.  I know you had a personal relationship with our Lord and savior and I pray you are you up there watching over us 🙏

Travis was one of the most loving, giving people I know. Meeting up on the Big Island after almost 30yrs of not seeing each other and he acted like it was just yesterday that we were playing at the park. Infectious smile and even better laugh, you just couldn’t stay mad at him. He will be missed…RIL Trav! Watch over us all…a hui hou aku no!

 We will definitely miss the time we spend with each other. You always had a way to make everyone laugh, especially me. Our ʻohana will never forget Travis and his contagious smile. He was so funny too. He made everyone around him feel welcomed and appreciated. He gave from his heart. I will always be forever grateful for the time that he took to help us out with our hale and building an extra room so that everyone can fit under our roof. He went above and beyond to make that happen. I also would like to add that with his passing it’s truly a loss for the world because you’ll never find a kanaka Maoli who had so much love for his ʻĀina, his ʻohana, his friends and they are rare to come by. Travis was very instrumental in helping to rebuild Gloria's home after it was destroyed in a fire. He never took a cent but gave himself joyfully

Many years ago I was visiting Maui at the aquarium there.Out.of the corner of my eye I see a shirtless tattooed person approaching me . I'm not expecting anyone I know there so I'm thinking I hope that he doesn't ask for money or cause trouble. I try not to make eye contact them this person says " How you my brother '.It was Travis.I was both happy and relieved.

This is how my brother lifted me up. He believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. His heart made up for all his flaws. His love, his mana, was 💪 strong....Nakoa Strong. My husband loved him dearly ❤️.  I will miss every single day till I take my last breath. 😥

I miss you so much my brother 😢.  Tyson and Travis sporting their Strong Arm shirts. It was their thing. 💙

My dearest Trav,
We have shared 18 years of marriage together and raised a beautiful family. We vowed to love eachother til death do us part but I promise and vow to love you beyond that. As I read the memories people have of you , I am honored to have been married to a one of a kind “Hawaiian” like you. You loved everyone so fiercely, you hugged everyone so tightly, always so unselfish to help those in need. You would always tell me you loved me and that I was your best girl.
