Sept. 18, 1944 to July 27, 2015
Ginger taught elementary school at El Monte, in Los Angeles, California, for 30 years. In 2002 she retired, moved to Maui, and soon began quilting. She was very active in the Maui Quilt Guild, serving in a variety of positions from teaching, to two terms as their President. She was also busy with the Kaunoa Senior Center, and enjoyed playing Mah Jong and bunko on a regular basis. Ginger has left a legacy of friendship and many, many quilts.
She passed away July 27, 2015, at Maui Memorial Hospital, Maui, following complications after surgery. Our deepest appreciation to Dr. Dang and the very skillful, caring staff in CCU.
Ginger is survived by her brother and sister: Ray (Mary) Gillespie, and Sue LaComb. Other family members include two nephews, Mike (Caren) and Chris Gillespie, as well as her niece, Laurie Kilian.
August 8th, a memorial service will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary. Friends and family may gather between 10-11 a.m. Service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by reception lunch. Her ashes will be spread at sea at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ginger White’s name to Women Helping Women or Maui Youth and Family Services.
