Wayne Ah Loy Chun, lovingly known as “Vene,” 55, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 17, 1969, at Kapiʻolani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, to the late Richard Ah New Chun Jr. and the late Lorraine Nalani (Mayoga) Chun. Raised in Nānākuli, Wayne was proud to attend Saint Joseph School in Waipahu alongside many of his cousins until his family moved to Maui in 1977. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapālama in 1987, where he was active in volleyball and canoe paddling.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Angela (Wall) Chun; children, Keomaikalani and Alohalani; siblings, the late Ah New Chun III (Trisha), Puanani (Chun) Gilliland (Lance), Earl Chun, Su Lin (Chun) Martinez (Tommy), Sara (Angel-Chun) McFerran (Andrew), Tanya
(Angel-Chun) Velasquez (Daniel), and Amanda (Angel-Chun) Burkett (Ryan). He is also survived by numerous aunties, uncles, hanai brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Wayne “Vene” Chun will be forever missed and fondly remembered for his aloha, laughter, and devotion to family, faith, and culture.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025
Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului. Public Visitation from 9:00 a.m., Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Makawao Cemetery.
