
William D. "Bill" Perez was very well known and well respected in the United States and international tuna business and who at one time or another worked for Van Camp Seafood Co; Bumble Bee Seafoods, and Starkist Co.
He was a US Navy veteran and a graduate of Woodbury College. Bill started with Van Camp Seafood Co. in the early 1960's on the night shift in the pet food plant on Terminal Island. He later took roles of increasing responsibilities including being General Manager of Samoa Packing, American Samoa, and and the General Manager of the Bumble Bee Seafoods tuna factory in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He worked seafood business in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. He also worked for Williams-Sonoma in the San Francisco Bay area.
Bill was pulled out of retirement for his last job was as General Manager of a pet food factory in Lyons, GA. before his well-deserved final retirement in Hawai'i. He was the mentor of many, many people throughout his very active career and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. Bill made friends easily wherever he traveled. He especially enjoyed playing golf and watching golf. He is survived by his wife Rita, and his teen-aged daughter Tuila.
