Basil "Buzz" Morissette

Buzz was born in Duck Lake, Sk and was a member of the Beardy's & Okemasis First Nation. He spent his early childhood and adolescent years on Beardy's and had fond memories of his life there. Buzz devoted his life to serving the Aboriginal people of British Columbia through his work and volunteer services. These included being a founding member of Native Courtworkers & Counseling Association of BC, founding member of Kamloops Native Housing Society, BC Corrections, involved in the Friendship Centre Program for the past 28 years and many other community leadership activities. Buzz was awarded the Order of British Columbia on April 25, 1996, for his many contributions to the BC Aboriginal community.

Buzz was predeceased by his parent Alexander and Rosa (Ayasso) Morissette. His brothers Wilfred, Paul, Louis, John, Leslie Morissette and his sister, Florence (Robert) Harper.

Buzz will be missed by his very special, close friends in the Kamloops Native Housing Society, Kamloops Friendship Society, friends and numerous nieces and nephews.
