HERBERT “RONALD” HUNT September 17, 1931 to December 16, 2020 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Hunt on December 16, 2020 at the age of 89. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marie, his four children, Keith (Susan), Joanne, John (Olga) and Brad (Nina) as well as nine grandchildren, Taylor, Mitchell, Jim, Katie, Maha, Georgia, Hayden, Lily, Max and one sister Beverley. Ron was predeceased by his brother Elmer (Flip) in November, 2020 and his parents Bert and Laura many years ago. Ron was born and raised in Kitsilano where he was very active in sports. He met the love of his life, Marie, at one of his fastball games. They were married in 1955 and moved to Victoria shortly afterwards where their four children were born. Ron was a partner in an insurance company in the 60’s and when his partner passed away suddenly, he sold out of the company and in 1971, with his wife and young family, purchased a family resort – Twin Cedars Lodge on Shuswap Lake, BC. The family persevered through several trying years, finally developing 15 cottage lots, sold 14, and built a cottage on one where they enjoyed many fun-filled years. The family moved to Kamloops where Ron became an investment advisor before retiring in 1998. Ron and Marie joined Rivershore Golf Club where they met many friends and enjoyed playing golf for pleasure and competitively. Ron was particularly proud of his several Senior and Super Senior Men’s and the mixed championships he and Marie won in the BC Interior. Ron had 6 hole in one’s! Ron joined Marie at the bridge table and took to the game immediately. Many days were spent playing the game. Ron and Marie enjoyed travelling south in the winters to explore the sights and play more golf with friends. They enjoyed many other trips to England, Europe, Alaska and the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Ron was very proud to watch and enjoy his children and grandchildren grow up and mature, especially their participation in sporting events, where many trophies were won. Ron was a member of the Rotary and Gyro clubs for many years. He was also proud to be part of a special “coffee group” in Kamloops. Ron always had a great sense of humour and saw the best in everyone and everything. His life was well lived with integrity, kindness and generosity. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to sports and loved to share when prompted. He was a devout Blazer fan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to a charity of your choice in Ron’s name. We hope to have a gathering of family and friends when appropriate to remember Ron and celebrate his life.

The Mann Family sends their heartfelt condolences on the loss of Ron. We remember fondly the warmth from Ron, Marie, Keith, John, Joanne & Brad - starting in 1974 - when we first rented at Twin Cedars. I think our family was the first to purchase (Lot 1) when the Hunts changed the property into a strata development and we’ve enjoyed nearly 40 years and counting at the same location on the Shuswap. Thank you Hunt family for setting our family on a course of great times and great memories on that special lake. We will miss Ron, but with great memories of him, Marie and their children being a family we all enjoyed seeing through many years of lake time.
