Mary Kathleen Reid

March 17, 1927 – July 7, 2013

On July 7, 2013 Mickey Reid passed away peacefully at Berwick on the Park. Mickey is survived by her three sons Bob (Colleen), Michael (Patti) and Peter and four grandchildren.

Mickey was born in Riverside California, USA. In 1928 the family returned to Vancouver. As a child she loved time spent with her sister Betty on their grandparents farms in Abbotsford and Haney. She graduated from King George High and attended UBC for two years.

Mickey married Jack Reid in 1949. They spent some time in Alberta and Ontario before moving back to Kamloops in 1956. She became an active member in Beta Sigma Phi in 1959. She enjoyed the friendship and support of her sisters since then. She held the position of President, Vice President and Treasurer.

Mickey became a pre-school teacher at the United Church, later took the Simon Fraser Teacher Training Program and taught grades 1 & 2 in elementary school.

The family enjoyed many summers at Shuswap Lake where they had a summer home for many years. Mickey was an active member of the Kamloops Golf Club playing until last year.

She also was involved with a bridge club which played on Tuesday and Thursday nights during the winter.

The Memorial Service will be held in the Schoening Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Teri Meyers officiating.

The Reid family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Berwick who looked after Mickey Reid.
