Robert Allan McIvor, of Kamloops BC, passed away at the age of 75 on November 6, 2025 after a battle with dementia. Bob is survived by his wife Barb, his daughter Sara Robertson (Dale), his two grandchildren, Levi and Hana, and his siblings Donna Kuenzig (predeceased, Derrick) and Jeff McIvor (Sue). Bob is predeceased by his parents, Allan and Stella McIvor, and his sister Kathy Rasmussen (Igil) (predeceased, Wayne). He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews who have great memories with their Uncle Bob.
Bob was born on April 3, 1950, in Guelph Ontario, where he grew up with his 3 siblings: Kathy, Donna and Jeff. Bob graduated as an Electronic Technician from Conestoga College and was then employed for 40+ years at 3M, becoming one of their highest trained Canadian certified Technicians working with hospital and manufacturing tech equipment around the country.
Bob met his sweetheart, Barb, in 1971, fell in love and married her on May 19, 1972. They had 53 wonderful years of marriage, and he was a devoted and loving husband who adored his Barbara. Two years after they were married, on November 6, 1974, they welcomed their daughter and only child, Sara Robertson (nee McIvor). Bob had a special love for his little girl and was always there for her, to kiss a boo-boo better, teach her to camp and love the wilderness, move her across provinces, paint an apartment, travel and adventure together or play with her children. The bond they had was precious, cherished and a gift to them both.
Bob loved to go on adventures, and in the early years, travelled on many work trips with Barb, or with Sara along to visit friends in Temagami, Montreal, or camp in Timmins. Bob loved the water and enjoyed fun at the beach or in the backyard pool at their home in Ontario with family and friends. He loved to play, and many have great memories of time in the water together with him. In later years, Bob and Barb loved going on sunny holidays to Arizona or venturing alongside their daughter Sara to Cuba.
Bob fell in love with the mountains and hiking when he and his family of three moved to Maple Ridge, British Colombia in 1992. Still having a love for the water, he was always hunting for a good waterfall and a breathtaking view. He loved being in nature, walking trails he always wanted to see what was around the next corner or over the next hill. Once at the top he always paused in awe and wonder commenting how much better everything looked from up there. Golden Ears Provincial Park, in particular, became one of his favourite places to climb and explore.
In retirement, Bob and Barb began their next adventure by moving to Kamloops, BC in 2017 to be closer to their daughter Sara, husband Dale, and the grandchildren, twins Levi and Hana, born April 1, 2016. Bob’s grandkids brought him immeasurable joy with many great memories filled with laughter, fun and games, playing at home, trips to the wildlife park, flying a kite together and so many more.
Bob was a gentle giant at 6’6, filled with joy, patience, and a love for the Lord Jesus. Although his physical absence will be painfully felt, we take comfort in knowing that he now dwells in the house of the Lord, and we trust in the knowledge that we will meet him again in heaven.
