Our father, Roy Wilfred Morin, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2021, in Kamloops, BC. He was born on September 6th, 1930, in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm. In his late teens, he made his way to BC and lived in the Lower Mainland, Grand Forks and Vernon during his life time. He had a varied work history which included working on the S.S. Prince George, at the Royal Canadian Legion, and for Weldwood of Canada Ltd. Dad had an incredible life and enjoyed every moment of it. His energy and vigour amazed everyone around him, right up to the end, as expressed by the wonderful staff at Vernon’s Jubilee Hospital.
Throughout his 90+ years, Dad wore many hats. He was a father, husband, brother, grandfather, favourite uncle and loyal friend. One of his favourites was his cowboy hat 🤠; size 7 1/8. Growing up behind the chutes was magical. We loved when he worked the rodeo arena gate, or when he was a “stripper” taking gear off the bucking stock. He worked/volunteered for decades at Cloverdale, Calgary, Armstrong and Ponoka. His annual visits to the Kamloops Cowboy Festival, and rodeo circuit trips, were legendary marathons of friends, family and joy. He was a great storyteller, practical joker and an incredible cook. Larger than life and universally loved, his legacy will live on. Till the next round up dad.❤️
