Abelardo Benenoso Verdida Sr., also known as Verdi Jones, passed away on January 30, 2025 in his Waimanalo home at the age of 80 years old. He was born in Cebu City, Philippines, then traveled to O’ahu, Hawai’i in 1976.
Abelardo was a person of strength, resilience, and kindness - a testament to his hard work and determination. Although he is known for being hard headed, it was also a source of strength. He was always there for his family and friends offering support and his heart full of generosity.
Abelardo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emerita Verdida; 7 children: Abelardo Verdida Jr., Antoniette Alce, Ariel Verdida, Alice King, Jose Verdida, Maribel Verdida-Shibuya, Jonathan Verdida; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
His visitation will be held 9:30 - 10:30 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025. Services will begin at 11:00 am with lunch to follow at 12:00 pm.
